MPC BRINGS MAGICAL VFX AND COLOUR TO VERY’S CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN DIRECTED BY GARY FREEDMAN
MPC has partnered with Grey London and director Gary Freedman to launch Very.co.uk’s charming Christmas campaign that encourages us to embrace every single festive moment
The Christmas ad sends the message that the best thing about 25 December is not just celebrating the day itself but all the preparations and family traditions in the build-up. It opens with a seemingly perfect celebration before panning out to show the scene is actually a clichéd Christmas TV ad being watched by a sceptical family.
The VFX work was created by MPC’s London and Bangalore teams, led by Dan Lorenzini and Nanda Kumar Perumal who crafted the light dusting of Christmas VFX and colour grade by MPC’s Matthieu Toullet.
Set to the track Hot Love by T. Rex, the spot then follows Jodie as she lists all her favourite and imperfect festive moments, including the neighbour’s lights display zapping the National Grid, fitting an oversized tree into the living room, terrible Christmas music and giving presents to everyone from the postwoman to the bin man with the help of Very’s app.
Dan Lorenzini, VFX Supervisor at MPC comments:
“It was an honour to once again work with the legendary Gary Freedman, this time on good old fashioned winter VFX work. Our teams provided the magical dusting of snow, decorations and subtle Christmas effects. A great collaboration from London and Bangalore teams!”
Matthieu Toullet, Colourist at MPC comments on the grade:
“I worked closely with Gary Freedman to explore different directions. We really wanted a look that wasn’t traditional for a commercial, the end result adds a beautiful warmth and charm to the film.”
