James started his career grading music videos and quickly established himself as one of the premiere colorists in the UK. In 2012, he was awarded Best Color Grade in a Music Video at the UK Music Video Awards for his work on indie rock band Temper Trap’s music video ‘Trembling Hands’.
After three years of prolific success at MPC London, where his natural aptitude for colors, hues, and saturation garnered industry recognition across a range of high-profile projects, James made the move to MPC NY.
Since then he has gone on to work with numerous high-profile directors including Miles Jay, Jon Watts, Robert Stromberg, Jake Scott, Vincent Haycock and Floria Sigismondi. He has worked for brands such as Asics, BMW, Gatorade, Mercedes, Nike, and L’Oreal, and also colored the feature films ‘Southside with You’ and ‘Cop Car’.
Most recently, James worked on Alicia Keys’ short film, ‘The Gospel’ for the launch of her album of the same name, as well as the feature film ‘Monsters and Men’ which was directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, and Tiffany’s 2018 holiday campaign featuring Zoe Kravitz.
