MPC is pleased to announce that their Los Angeles office is now open for business. The commercials focused operation based in heart of Santa Monica opened its doors this week. The design of the studio coupled with the latest technology means the LA facility is equipped to provide clients with the most creative and flexible way of working. The Santa Monica studio will offer the full range of commercial visual effects services in a highly creative environment. The services on offer include non linear colour grading 3D & 2D VFX. MPC’s vision for the LA studio has been to recreate the atmosphere and level of service from London. In doing so the LA studio has become home to a team of creative and production talent relocated from our London office. Senior MPC colourist Mark Gethin will be heading up the LA grading department. The west coast will also become home to MPC VFX supervisors Franck Lambertz, Duncan McWilliam and Daniel Sanders. The core team of London artists will be complemented by talent from the international world of post production all led by MD Mark Tobin and Head of Production Andrew Bell. The technology that will allow MPC to remain at the forefront of the post industry is organised into 5 project rooms, each can be individually configured based on project requirements. The systems in use include a new Da Vinci Resolve 2k non linear grading system which allows grading from projected images, the latest versions of compositing tools Flame and Smoke 2009 and the core 3D software Maya which will be complemented by all the tools which currently make up the 3D pipeline in London. The Santa Monica office has been established with the capacity to take on any size of visual effects project. The connectivity between the Los Angeles studio and London will enable projects to happen across international time zones. The networked infrastructure will allow our creative talent in LA to offer MPC clients access to latest bespoke creative software tools and post production solutions.
