MoCap

Motion capture is the process of recording actual movement (usually human) and translating that movement onto a digital computer model.

MPC uses motion capture to record the actions of actors, and takes the recorded information to animate digital character models.

In a session, movements of one or more actors are sampled many times per second. This animation data is then mapped to a 3D model making it match the actors’ movements. Camera movements can also be motion captured at the same time by a virtual camera panning, tilting, or dollying around the stage. This means computer generated characters, images and sets, have the same perspective as the video images from the camera. The data is then processed by computer to display the movements of the actor, while keeping the desired camera positions in the set.
