The New Tenants

MPC congratulates Joachim Back and Tivi Magnusson on their success at the 82nd Acadamy Awards: The New Tenants was graded by Jean-Clement Soret at MPC. The New Tenants won an award for Best Short Film, Live Action.

Director of Colour Grading Jean Clement Soret worked on Resolve from 35mm negative scanned on Spirit at MPC.  Jean Clement worked closely with the director to give the film a rich, colourful image, paying special attention to skin tones and matching light and contrast throughout the several days of the shoot.  ‘I had worked before with Joachim the director on commercials, it really helped having a level of understanding and being able to communicate from the start – Jean Clement explains.  I like his work and when he asked me to help him on his film, there was no hesitation,  I thought it was an amazing piece of work like you rarely see and felt privileged to be working on The New Tenants. I took great pleasure grading it. Congratulations Joachim!

Set amidst the as-yet-unopened boxes and the hopes for a fresh start of two men on what might just be the worst moving day ever, their new apartment reveals its terrifying history in a film that is by turns funny, frightening, and unexpectedly romantic. (Imdb)
