Vigorsol, Bottled Air

Traktor has directed ‘Bottled Air,’ Vigorsol’s new ad promoting the chewing gum’s unique refreshing powers.  Set in beautiful Havana, the provocative commercial was produced by Sam Robinson at BBH and Rani Melendez at Traktor.  MPC added the cooling vapour to the spot.

Vigorsol’s campaign features the successful business of a young man selling bottled cool air in the tropical streets of Havana. The eager customers rush to get this secret refreshing vapour which is produced by Vigorsol’s Air Action gum while he eagerly serves a pretty girl, before getting a little surprise…

MPC assisted on the 2 day shoot in Cuba where a South American crew supported and local extras took starring roles.  Once the ad was cut, a studio shoot in London was organised to capture the vapour elements.  With a matched camera position actors were dressed in black suits and shot as the vapour surrounded them.  The vapour was then composited to the live footage and in some cases enhanced, carefully matching the actors’ movements.

Jean-Clement Soret added the master grade enhancing the vibrant colours and sunny atmosphere of the ad.  The bleach bypass emulation combined with the derelict aspect of Cuban buildings gave the Vigorsol ad a unique look.  Matching shots with variable weather was also part of the usual grading work.

The spot will be on air in Italy from June 2009.
