MPC wins Best Colourist at the BTA Craft Awards

MPC made a clean sweep of the Best Colourist category at the 2008 BTA Craft awards with all 3 nominations in that category going to their artists. Two nominations went to Jean Clement Soret with Mark Gethin taking the third and winning the award.

Gethin’s winning grade was for Adam Berg’s cinematic Saab; ‘Turbo’ job, where he worked alongside DoP, Linus Sandgren. The Agency was Lowe Brindfors with production by Stefan Falk at Camp David. Mark explains; ‘It’s really cool to win this award, especially now that I am based outside the UK, I know that the whole industry was represented on the long list and the fact that J-C and I were the three nominees makes it really special.’

On hearing the news, Adam said; Mark is such a great guy and he has a very good eye. You can always count on him to find and bring something extra out of the frames you give him. He always fights to make each image the best it can be. I am grateful for all the hard work he has put in for me. Mark, big congratulations to a well deserved award.

Mark, now based in MPC’s Santa Monica LA office, carried out the Saab job from the London studio prior to the move. Mark has made an immediate impact in the US his recent credits include two jobs for Filip Engstrom; Playstation 3, ‘Murals,’ and PlayStation Network ‘T-Shirts’ as well as Netflix for Goodby Silverstein and Partners, directed by David Shane from O Positive.

In LA, Mark has continued to work with Adam Berg using MPC’s established live grading link between the London & Santa Monica facilities.

As mentioned above, the Telecine category was an MPC clean sweep with past BTAA Craft winner, MPC’s Director of Telecine, Jean-Clement Soret receiving the other two nominations for Frederic Planchon’s Vodafone ‘Time Theft‘ and Dawn Shadforth’s M&S 'Christmas Belles'
