Heineken’s TV ad ‘Prep Talk’ marks the beginning of the UEFA Champions League. In the film we see Jose Mourinho, Football Manager of Premier League club Manchester United, who are not in the league this year, delivering a powerful and stormy pep talk. The comedic film directed by Independent’s Guy Ritchie was conceived through Publicis Milan and it highlights the drink brand’s sponsorship of the Champions League.
MPC artists created VFX throughout the spot. In particular, establishing the look, feel and flow of the storm saw artists thinking on their feet and collecting elements from all kinds of places, including a coincidental mid-night storm in London. Real footage filmed on a phone from a bedroom window was then augmented into the DMP.
